Diamond is proud to host a plethora of prominent and distinguished scientists. For breaking news stories, the Press Office will arrange contact between journalists and the scientists involved.
Diamond scientists are also available to act as commentators on wider science issues including:
Professor Andrew Harrison is CEO of Diamond, and can provide not only an overview of its scientific achievements and challenges (particularly in the physical sciences), but also has specific expertise in the synthesis and properties of functional materials. Professor Harrison is available to comment on magnets and magnetism, nano- and mesostructured materials and materials under extreme conditions.
Professor Trevor Rayment is Director of Physical Sciences. As Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Birmingham, his research has been focused on development of novel techniques for studying interfaces and their application in nanoscience, solid-liquid interface of electrodes and biomolecular interactions at interfaces.
Professor Richard Walker is Technical Director at Diamond, and is our key expert on technical developments at the synchrotron. Prof Walker is also available to comment on stories relating to accelerator physics, insertion devices, the properties of synchrotron radiation, accelerator technology and free electron lasers.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
